Listserv Etiquette

1. When sending an email, state the topic of your comments in the subject line clearly and concisely. This enables members to respond to your posting more appropriately and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject.

2. Be sure to include appropriate subject lines. If your email only applies to US lawyers, put “US” + your subject in the subject line (or UK, PAK, etc.). If it applies to everyone, use the text “Global” + your subject line.

3. To send an email to the entire listserv press “Reply All,” and to respond to the sender only, press “Reply.” Mass emailing members on the listserv should only be done if the information benefits everyone. Please be mindful that your email will reach thousands so think of the value of your email before you press Send. Avoid hitting “reply all” if a message is intended for a specific person(s).

4. Emails containing lengthy messages or information should be mentioned in the subject line or at the beginning of the message to warn members.

5. When using Auto Reply when you are unavailable or away from the office, create a rule prohibiting sending the message to the list.

6. Do not send administrative messages requesting to be removed through the listserv. If you would like to unsubscribe to the listserv, click here.

7. Do not distribute any SPAM, pyramid schemes, chain letters, or invite the listserv to join your social media networks. You may invite individuals, but mass emailing the listserv with unrelated information is strictly prohibited.

8. This listserv aims to promote communication among members and encourage discussion, share referrals, and important information. Individuals who violate community guidelines by posting disrespectful, harmful, or defamatory content of any organization or individual will be removed. Abusive language of any kind will not be tolerated. Furthermore, we prohibit members from engaging in solicitation activities of any kind.

9. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in immediate removal and termination from the listserv.
