PURPOSE 

In light of the background and ongoing critical needs, the purpose of the PLAN-Listserv shall be to disseminate information of interest to lawyers of Pakistani origin, background, or with interest in the further development of law, justice, and policy in Pakistan. PLAN will accomplish that via five categories: 

1. Annual Colloquy. Host an annual conference with key stakeholders on the topic of Rule of Law and Access to Justice in Pakistan. From time to time, the listserv may also announce other Speaker Series webinars and teleconferences of interest to members of the listserv.

2. Local Expertise. Provide a central resource to identify local expertise for the government, NGOs, and commercial clients when transacting in jurisdictions where Pakistani-origin counsel may be present, and can effectively guide the respective client(s).

3. Public Policy & Legislative Advocacy. Improve Pakistan’s ranking on the World Justice Index by participating in key forums, locally, nationally, and internationally, to further strengthen the legal and human rights framework in Pakistan.

4. Networking & Referrals. Provide announcements, client referrals, job postings, and opportunities for ongoing projects.

5. Career Advancement. Share career advice, mentorship, and internship opportunities for law students, including information about JD, LLM, and Bar Admissions process.

The geographic focus of the group is Pakistan and includes the interests of Pakistan and Pakistani people on legal forums worldwide. Current members of the listserv include lawyers from around the world, including specifically, but not limited to, lawyers in Australia, Middle East, Pakistan, USA, and UK.
